Polyurethane vs. Epoxy

The main advantage of polyurethane over epoxy is lower cost for material and processing as well. Polyurethane is lower in viscosity than epoxy products and can be processed at ambient temperature, thereby keeping production and energy cost to a minimum. They are generally easier to handle, and have faster cure times, greatly reducing cycle times. Another significant advantage of polyurethane over epoxy is transportation. Polyurethane chemicals are typically classified non-hazardous and can be shipped through most carriers, whereas epoxy chemicals are hazardous and must be shipped with special conditions, often incurring costly handling fees from the carrier.
