Mold Making & Tooling

Innovative Polymer Systems (IPS), a leader in polyurethane technology, introduces a new mold-making line of polyurethane products for casting and tooling. IPS mold-making polyurethane includes hardnesses from 20A to 90A, incorporating easy-to-use 50/50 ratios and low viscosities to reduce air entrapment. The durable polyurethane is well suited for repeated casting, and cures at room temperature with insignificant shrinkage.

IPS mold making polyurethane systems are a new edition to the 6235 Series of two component elastomer systems. Ratios will vary based on the durometer of the material. Simply mix the required parts by weight of Part A and Part B, and at room temperature the mixture will cure to durable mold polyurethane.

When the mold has cured and aged sufficiently, a good coating of mold release should be applied before the first pull from the mold. We recommend pure silicone release. If the part is to be painted, another release may be required. Subsequent pulls will require less release if any. Store the mold on a flat surface protected from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity to prevent warping. With care, the mold should last for years.
